About
Small parts, held to a standard
PHPRise is an open source foundation for PHP. The name joins PHP with rise: the work of raising the floor of what a PHP codebase is allowed to look like.
It started from a frustration that is common in the PHP ecosystem: frameworks that are excellent until you need to replace one piece, and then require you to replace all of them. The alternative we build here is the opposite — architecture made of parts small enough to be understood in one sitting and replaced without permission.
What we refuse
- Frameworks leaking into the domain layer.
- Repositories that cannot be classified as atom, assembly or application.
- Abstractions created before the second use case exists.
- Code that needs a comment to explain its indentation.
- Interfaces published without a contract.
How it is maintained
Everything lives in thephprise-foundationorganization on GitHub, under the MIT license. Development happens in public: issues describe intent, pull requests describe the change, and themanifesto settles disagreements.
There is no company behind the code and no paid tier. The project is funded by the time of the people who use it.
